I have an antique store and am trying to install a fan ceilimg again. The box has a black and a white wire from the ceiling. I know where to connect the ceiling fan wire color - but I can put on the ground for? There is no need to attach the black wire or the white wire?

You have nothing to connect to the earth. Absolutely no cables to connect either white or black to the ground terminal. Certainly not the black, ideally, no. The fan will work. The ground wire is a safety feature only. Due to the location of the fan, which has no connection ground should not cause any personal danger. Installing without the ground in this circumstance is permitted under the National Electrical Code.
