The question is not correct. All batteries are designed to give output power as per the AHs (Ampere Hours) and the terminal voltage. For smaller lamps you can have 6V batteries if you do not want then to run for hours. Again it depends on the lamps, their power consumption, voltage etc. If you are going to light lamps with only battery then the lamps will have to be low voltage DC since battery voltages are low 6, 12 etc and could be connected in series to make them high.

But if you want to drive tube lights, or 230 V batteries then you have to have an Inverter for driving the lamps.
