Will touch lamp still work if spray painted?
Previous owners left behind a brass touch lamp that has attractive lines, but brass will not match our décor. If we spray paint it, will the touch part still work? I tried Google, and the only related entry I found gave no definitive answer. I want to paint it black. Has anyone tried this?
(I realize we could just experiment since it was a freebie, but if I can find out for sure it won’t work we’ll just use it in my husband’s office where I don’t have to see it.)
it will not because in a touch lamp the reason it changes when you touch it is you are the ground to the metal. the electronics senses the touch to the metal. if you paint it you will not be touching the metal directly. leave a spot on the back or on the shade unpainted and you can touch it in that spot
