I agree with Rusty Nail. I’ve been a professional painter for 14 years. I hardly ever use primers they are waste of money a lot of times. Don’t get me wrong you do need them for certain projects. If you decide to use a primer you don’t need an oil base all you need is a latex primer. Plus, you can have the primer tinted close to your topcoat color. A key to your project is to use a top quality paint. I would stay away from Home Depot, Lowe’s, or any store like that. Sherwin Williams, Porter, and Benjamin Moore are my choices. Hope this helps
