3 spd ceiling fan-high now goes much slower-need new motor?pull chain seems ok-?
The 3 speed ceiling fan used the most in my house, when pulled to 1st position, high, goes much, much slower than should be. Now 2nd & 3rd position, medium & slow, seem to go slower, too. Do I need a new motor? Pull chain is not broken and I can hear it switch when pulled each time. This is an older fan – I like it and don’t want to replace the whole thing if I don’t need to. Any held is appreciated. Thank you.
You are correct that the motor is going bad. Unfortunately, any repairs wouldn’t be cost effective or practical since you can buy a brand new fan for around $100. If you like the design you could probably find something similar and reuse the light globes.
