Replacing a dimmer switch?
Old wiring, even older house. Want to replace existing dimmer switch. Old switch has 3 wires ; 2 reds and 1 black. Black is connected to black in box, red is connected to red in box and other red is connected to white in box. Does not appear to be a ground wire. New switch has 4 wires, 2 reds 1 black and 1 green. Cant make head nor tail of the wiring diagram included and does this have to be grounded? Controls a ceiling fan with a light kit.

Sounds like you might have a three way switch. Which should work anyway, even without having a second switch, say on the other side of the room. See this website for wiring instructions.
