Sounds like an electrical issue to me. Obviously it is not just dirty if you bought a new one that only worked for 20 minutes. It seems like the vent isn’t at the right angle if water stayed in it? I know the rule of thumb is to leave your fan running for 20 minutes after you turn off the water, so that all the water will get evaporated. Good luck.
