Cooling a conservatory? with a budget?

I have a winter garden that we are finally replacing it is most days unsuable April-September as its too hot (south facing). It is our only outlet to the garden, a games room / studio (in winter) so we to have it open (ie not only can not use it and forget it exists!). For we will throw in a few months can not spend much money (budget of £ 100-150), but it must somehow cool. I looked in the refrigerator cheapest portable air (Argos £ 50) combined with the use of a cheap sheet tied to the roof of any way. Are refrigerators cheap labor?
