The seaside resort of Southsea – Hampshire is located on the Portsea Island, England in the sovereign state of the United Kingdom.

Despite being a rather small town Southsea is considered a thriving commercial mecca that boasts with not one but two national department stores as well as numerous, well known high end stores. The area’s coastline comprises of mainly flint gravel, with limited sand exposure during low tide. South Parade Pier and Clarence Pier are home to two entertainment centres, while the South Parade Pier also houses a ballroom dance floor and bar. Clarence Pier lays next to the towns’ permanent funfair.

In commemoration of the new millennium in year 2000, a beautiful, scenic walkway was constructed from Gunwharf Quays to the Southsea coastline. The walkway pavement is distinctively marked and lined with striking blue street lamps.

The kids will love a visit to anyone of the numerous miniature golf courses, skateboard parks or clay tennis courts. During winter 2008 a total of three beach volleyball courts were also constructed.

Fancy a bit of town history? Then a visit to the D-Day museum situated on the Southsea coastline, close to Southsea castle will definitely be in order. Another museum in the area is the Cumberland House, which is a natural history museum, butterfly house and aquarium all in one.

An endless selection of open air concerts and events are held during summer months, on an almost daily basis, at specifically the towns’ bandstand and Castle Field.

Southsea Model Village is a 1:12 scale model village with a host of mini buildings, homes, castles and even a railway station.
