Can my Landlord my my rent out of my security deposit?

I am moving out of my apartment and I do not have any money to pay this last months rent. I am wondering if they can just take it out of my security deposit I put up at the beginning. THe situation is that I am moving home because I can not afford to live in chicago with my friend. Our lease is not up but the girl on the third floor need a roommate so the landlord is having my friend is going to move up there with her and they are ending the lease.

That is why you put up a security deposit. It is meant to be used as the last months rent. However, some complexes prefer you to pay out the lease completely and refund your security deposit after 30 days !
