The main problem is making sure when you put your hole through the wall is not to damage the floor joists on the top of the wall.
As soon as you have your door the right way, put in two support beams to reinforce the floor joist.

That is imperative make sure you support the floor joists, then put in your door frame and build the exterior stairwell.
You may want to check the drainage in the area too, and put a drain in the exterior part going into your sewer line.
