Depending on the location of your fan, you will need to look for a damp rated fan or a wet rated fan. One that is more exposed to the elements would need to be wet rated versus damp rated and vice versa. Where it is appropriate to use only outdoor rated fans outside, it is perfectly acceptable to use an outdoor rated fan inside as well. Many people do this simply because the style of the fan seems to match the room better.

No matter their style or placement, ceiling fans are a great addition to home décor and offer a great ambiance to any room of the house, outdoor and indoor alike.
