as for the thickness, it’s about 10gallons so I’d use the thickness used on a standard 10gallon tank, I’m not sure what the exact thickness is but it should be easy enough to find out, or just measure it. I honestly have no idea what you’d pay for glass, I know the glass isn’t too expensive but getting it cut is, so you might want to try cutting it yourself if you feel you’re capable.

you can probably use a desk lamp, just get one that uses compact fluorescent bulbs, you should be able to find these at home depot. I don’t thin k the watts matter as much as the K, so I’d look at what wattage goes along with the K you need, then buy a lamp accordingly.
