Dimmer Switch on Ceiling Fan?

Son-in-law just installed a ceiling fan/light in the dining room. The original fixture was lights only with a dimmer switch. Now………….

You shouldn’t have a dimmer switch on a fan, replace it with a normal flip/on and off switch.

When you use a dimmer switch your altering the voltage so that the light goes dimmer or brighter when you rotate the dial. This wont work with a ceiling fan, it has a motor in it.

Also if the bulbs are low voltage halogen bulbs then that could also cause you problems. Just replace the switch with a on/off switch.
