I have found that when I tried changing fan directions for the different season doesn’t always work for the fans that are mounted directly on the ceiling (ceiling hugger). When they blow upwards they do nothing for me. If they were suspended they would probably work fine. I have all of mine blowing down all the time. It blows the air down from the ceiling in the center of the room and the cool air goes up the walls toward the ceiling. It all mixes well for a uniform temperature for both heating and cooling.
