Christian Evolutionists: Creation Story a ‘Metaphor’?
On one hand, you have a scientific theory that says life evolved from simple to complex over a very long period of time. The theory says that, among other things, life is bound to develop given enough time and the right circumstances.
Some Christians – who apparently don’t want to discount the bible but who still like being viable members of modern society – attempt to reconcile the creation story with facts by calling it a ‘metaphor’ for what really happened.
How can the creation story – which features events like plants appearing before light – be thought of as a a metaphor for anything real?
Why not just admit that, while God might be real, the bible flat-out isnt?
I stand corrected. It was, in fact, the SUN – not light – which was created after plants.
Does this somehow make the Creation fable more believeable?
