Looking for a movie about a genius?

I'm not thinking about the popular Disney movie Aladdin done. This live action and became involved sometime before 1980. What I can remember is that near the end, the man who had the genius of the lamp, the lamp cast down a well lava as a promise to free the genie. May have been a movie Aladdin, but I can not remember which one exactly. I remember it in color, but not sure if it was filmed in color or if it was colored afterwards. When the man waving the lamp in the lava pit, I also remember they were in a cave of some sort and that genius was convened only a rope or something to help (and a woman?) escape from where they were. I am inclined to think there was also pirated a ship involved in some way.
