Bought a 5300 btu single room a/c to cool my bedroom. Any information on about how much this unit will cost me

I have a 14×14 room that I need only slightly cooled. We have a ceiling fan so that will help with this. This unit is an energy star unit that says (based on 8c per killowatthour rates) that annually it should cost about $34.00. I understand that that was back in 1995 that it was that low. I think that it should be about double, but the landlord (who is roommate as well) says that if we use this, we will pay ALL extra to the electricity bill. About how much more per month can I expect to be paying?
I already did the research on this unit…and it is plenty to cool what I need. And I don’t believe that it should cost anymore than the 4 ancient box fans that we currently have running in the room, on average, I believe the bills should go down without using those powersuckers

Before you buy it you might wanna think if is good enough for your room. Thats only good for a closet. Under extreme weather conditions, you wanna get at least 15,000 btu a/c unit . That should cost you about 400 dollars. The more SEER the more efficient. good luck. You’ll be paying about 15 dollars more per month. It isn’t that much. Keep in mind that once you go over the limit of power usage, the power consumption prize doubles too. There is a limit that edison allowes you to use, you go over your limit they double charge you.
