$5000 in leased house damages?!!?

We used to live in a house where we had to pay $950 deposit before we moved in. When we moved out, there were some minor damages, such as a whole or two in the wall, etc.. But overall, the house was clean except for few repairs.

Quite a few things on that list are items that your landlord can not legally charge you for. Mowing/yard work, washing the garage, extermination fees are the responsibility of the landlord in all states. Items such as replacing the garage door, dishwasher, window covers, bathroom fixtures, and broken light fixtures can only be recovered if you damaged those items. Depending upon your state and the length of your residency, other items such as the painting and cleaning of items that merely show normal wear and tear might not be legal to recover from you as well.
Frankly, it looks like the landlord decided to renovate the place and bill you for it. Advise your landlord that these charges are not legal and refuse to pay them. Your landlord can try to get a judgment in court, but as long as you show up in court you should have no trouble defending yourself and the judge will immediately see that the bulk of the charges on that list are not lawful. It should be a satisfying experience for you. Bring a camera to capture the look on your landlords face as they exit the court.
