Fed up of not having a nice ash tray around the house? Can’t find any ashtrays in your local shops? Well join the crowd then! Is it political madness since the smoking ban I wonder? (I live in the UK) – I just can’t seem to be able to find any in my local shops or supermarkets, what’s going on? Well I exert my freedom to have a nice ash tray for my own personal use in my own home/garden. I’m sure if you are a dedicated smoker like myself then you feel the same.

I share a house with 4 other people, and they are messy guys, I assure you! I’m just fed up with it. What do I mean by that? Well, 4 of the people in my house smoke, and not one of them has a decent ashtray. Cans and cups have become ashtrays and the garden has become the cigarette butt graveyard. At least the soil quality might improve from all the ash!

So that’s it – I’m on a mission to find nice ashtrays.

I started having a look on the internet and there IS quite a good selection out there. I think I’m sold, the next chance I have I’m going to order a whole collection of them. I was quite surprised to find out how many different categories there were. If you didn’t know – there are smokeless ashtrays, outdoor ashtrays, pocket ashtrays, cigar ashtrays, and your regular indoor ashtrays. I think I’m going to order 1 from each category – that should soon sort out my little problem.

That sounds like it could be great. I love having a personalized bedroom (I have a full-wall mural of Starry Night).

Ok, so here’s what I would do:

Paint: As tempting as it may be to do textured paint or a faux-stone treatment, it can make the room seem too themed. I would go with a color like Benjamin Moore (check out my source to see the colors online; try them on Bedroom 2) “Henderson Buff” for the walls, a darker colored trim like “Cupcake”, and if you’re up for painting the ceiling, a shade like “Princeton Gold”, which is related to Henderson Buff.

Furniture: Wicker or dark wood (think dark walnut).

Bedding: I’d do a bright blue-turquoise, like Tutankhamen’s mask. You could also get a throw blanket to give some pattern. See the amazon.com link below.

Extras: This is where you can go all out. Go for gold statuettes, wall sculptures, etc. The site you referenced looks like it has a great selection.
