My cockatiel, April, always licks the lamp next to her cage. the parts she licks is the top part where the switch is, and the lampshade. the kind i have is a floor lamp with a “gooseneck” (bendable) reading light that comes with it. when it is on, and it is close enough, April climbs over to it and either licks the part where the lightswitch is (the top of the light), or the lampshade. sometimes, if it is left low enough, she even licks the lightbulb itself! pls tell my why she likes to. im very curious about why.

The bird’s tongue is dry and is used like we use a finger; to touch and feel things. I don’t know why she likes to feel the lamp so much, but I guess it entertains her.
