Light bulbs can be bought of all different types of brightness. Some bulbs dim out the longer they are used. The decreasing dimness is a result of lower intensity and the intensity that a bulb can produce is related to the energy the light bulb can produce. Each unit of light intensity is known as Candela.

The domestic light bulb has a light intensity of 100000 units of candela; this can be compared with an overcast sky which has an intensity of only 2000 whereas a clear sky has an intensity of 8000. The highest intensity that is seen by a lot of people is that of lightening, which is 80,000,000 candelas strong.

From the information above you can now see the basic difference between natural light and bulb light, the latter has a much higher intensity. The designers know this but still make high intensity designs. The reason is because higher intensity light is much more useful to us.

Extremely bright light bulbs have been used to light up sporting venues such as football and rugby games when the sun goes down. These have been extremely useful tools in creating an atmosphere where sportsmen and women can remain high levels of hand to eye coordination at night.

In my experience when the games start you cannot really tell the difference if you are playing under artificial light or sunlight. Other useful bright light applications include industries such as warehouse being able to conduct their logistical work during the night.
