Lighting fixtures only a couple of inches wide also have their uses. Some fluorescent lighting fixtures can be installed as a group and be controlled by a single light switch.

Despite their drawbacks, florescent lighting fixtures are becoming increasingly popular due to their energy-efficient feature. Increasing environmental awareness is one main reason for this preference.

Christmas light bulbs and US in UK?

I have bought some Hallmark Keepsake ornaments. For those ofus here in the EU they are decorations you plug into the bulb socket on a string of christmas lights – a brill idea that doesnt seem to have caught on here.

My question is this, the US is 110V (is that right) whilst uk is 220V so are my US ornaments compatible with a UK set? Most of them seem to have a transformer on the plug, so would that make it work or does the different voltage not matter – I once was told a UK food blender works but very slowly in the US.

The ornament only says ‘lights strings that employ 2.5, 3.5 and 6 volt push in type UL lamps. Do not use with 10 lamp,12 V.

I guess I could make my own power supply, wire them in so not in bulbs – any ideas how?

Since your bulb string is set up on a series-semi series circuit your easiest solution is to purchase a “Euro travel converter” plugs into your wall outlet and has a twin blade polarized output @ 110Vac,Any Large electronic supply house ie. WalMart or equiv.carries this product even Radio Shack.It can handle resitive loads approx. 1500 Watts about 20 times more than required they are inexpensive here circa $ 14.95.U.S. There are many other uses for this device as long as they are resistive.
