First, it should be reasonably clean with furniture that isn’t falling apart. Some of that bachelor furniture can be pretty bad.

I think it’s good if the place doesn’t feel to cold. Not temp cold but feeling cold if you get what I mean. To many hard surfaces and stark white can come off as very cold and unwelcoming.

If the floor is wood, get a big rug for the seating area. If the windows are just blinds, get some curtains to hang down the sides. They don’t even have to be big enough to pull across the window, just hanging at the sides softens the look and makes it feel cozier. That sort of thing can really make a room more welcoming.
