1] white sheers sound great for living area – do get blinds or shades for bedroom, if you use sheers!
2] an area rug under living or dining area, will divide space without making it seem ‘choppy’.
3] could use the sofa to divide the living from dining area, or an open bookcase/low shelves, with ornaments or plants on top.
I have also used a bookcase/shelves to separate kitchen from dining area – provides storage for small kitchen accessories [ blender, toaster, some coffeemakers, cookbooks, canisters ]
4] put mirror across from or at right angles to windows
5] upholstered furniture in white or light to medium gray [ if you like cool tones ]; or ivory or light to medium golden beige
[ if you like warm tones ]
6] then add your three fav colors in accessories – rugs, lamps/shades, ornaments, vase/planter, candles/holders, art work
7] most furniture should be double duty if possible – a trunk [ storage ] side or coffee table [ plexiglass on top to protect finish ], storage ottoman as suggested above, platform bed with drawers underneath
8] I’d frame all art in similar color/materials to provide some unity, and allow you to switch things around [ brass/chrome, oak/walnut,colored enamel ]
9] use same metal throughout for frames,accents – cool tones: use chrome, or iron; warm: use brass or copper.
10] add some photos of family, friends; some green plants, and your collections if you have room.
