Solar lights come in a variety of types and styles to provide a wide range of lighting solutions around the home and garden and to satisfy any aesthetic desire. Solar lights use sunlight to produce power and charge batteries, eliminating the need for electricity from the utility grid. Further, LED light bulbs are employed for warm and clear illumination while drastically reducing the need to change light bulbs. Accent Lights

Accent lights encompass a broad range of styles and uses and are the most common type used. The two most common styles are stake lanterns and low-profile lanterns. The stake style consists of a stake securing the light into the ground with the illumination between one and two feet above the ground. Homeowners like these because the shape of the fixture can vary widely to complement garden elements and ornaments. Low-profile lights are narrow and flat and sit directly on the ground or a pathway or stairs. Users like low-profile lights because they do not detract from the garden and they provide quality illumination for looks and safety. Other accent fixtures include spotlights to illuminate trees and other prominent points in your garden as well as a solar address panel.

Lamp Posts

Solar lamp posts look like traditional lamp posts but are completely powered by the sun. Ranging in height from three to seven feet, these lights are particularly suited to line driveways and walkways. Between one and three lights with LED bulbs provide clean, bright light. Further, dawn and dusk sensors automatically turn the light on and off depending on the amount of daylight. The lamps are weather and rust resistant, remaining an attractive addition to your landscape with little maintenance.

Shed Lights

A recent and very useful development in the field of solar fixtures are shed lights. Designed for use in sheds, garages and greenhouses, the lights use a small solar panel on the roof or side to directly power a light on the ceiling of the shed. The lights utilize either fluorescent or LED light bulbs and can remain illuminated for up to 4 hours. The shed lights are designed to require no outside electrical wiring and are easy to install.
