Before you can use the wireless functionality, you have to plug your laptop directly into the NetGear. Open up Internet Explorer and type in the default gateway IP address. Start-Run-type in “cmd” without the quotes-type “ipconfig” without the quotes and you will get the DG’s IP address, probably close to 192.168.1.1

Once you put that IP address in your Internet Explorer address bar, where you type in www.yahoo.com, you will be prompted for the username and password. I think NetGear uses Administrator and password for these. Check the manual though. Then you will be in the router and you go to the Wireless tab/menu and you enable it and set your WPA encryption password so people can’t steal your internet and your connections are more secure.
