Employers unconcerned about federal laws know that undocumented workers will work for less. Undocumented refers to individuals who are in the U.S. illegally or beyond the time limits of their visas. Since these workers do not have Social Security cards, they aren’t likely to complain if an employer fails to contribute its share to the Social Security Administration for them. They also don’t expect to receive retirement benefits, and they may be left off company rolls for health and life insurance benefits. They just want to stay under the radar, undetected by immigration officials who might deport them to their home country.
