Learning how to choose a good thermostat has became an important subject to many people. Since the rise of energy saving, many people are looking forward to save energy to save more money and protect the environment. Air conditioners or heating/cooling systems became the main target because these appliances consume lots of energy everyday.

Some people have reported that they have saved lots of money by simply installing a thermostat at home on their heating/cooling system. Some companies claimed that users could save up to 30% of the energy on their heating and cooling cost by simple investing less than $100 on a tiny thermostat. Here are a few useful tips while you are shopping for a thermostat:

Digital and programmable thermostats are preferred. There are some traditional thermostats which contain mercury which is hazardous to our health. Digital thermostat avoided such problems. Besides that, programmable thermostats allow us to program different temperature throughout the whole day. There are various thermostats nowadays. Some allow you to schedule different temperature up to 4 periods per day. Some allow you to program different settings for weekdays and weekends.

Battery-free thermostats are often recommended. There are many thermostats which still run on batteries. This might cause inconveniences to you because you need to change the battery yourself or make a call to get a technician to do it for you. There are thermostats which provide you the option for you to connect the power to the heating and cooling system.

Look for a good price. This goes without saying. Most people love to choose products which come with low price. However, it is important not to compromise quality because you might be using the thermostat for a long time. Choosing a thermostat with low quality might be cause many inconveniences and probably money to fix the problem. With a budget below $100, you are able to get a good one. If you are looking for a better programmable and digital thermostat, it might cause you another extra $50.

Use these tips while choosing it. You might be surprise how many high quality thermostats are selling at a low price.

I have a 1974 scout with an inline 6 out of a cj5 and a chevy steering column that need to be rewired?

I bought this running and now it’s not. The battery keeps draining the altenator I was told is good. It’s a rats nest with bare wire and alot of splicing. Gages aren’t even hooked up. I’d like to rewire the whole thing. It’s a 1974 scout with an inline 6 out of a cj 5 and a aftermarket chevy steering column. How do I do it, and where do I go to find wiring diagrams to make everthing run correctly. By the way I have little wiring experiance besides instaling a ceiling fan and an outside light in my house. OH YA it hurt to get shocked to. Can you help me?

So you have a ‘Interamchevrostien’ scout? -cool! My monster began with a ’80 dodge D-50 (mitsubishi) mini-truck to which I added an all ford drivetrain. I found the wiring ,of the truck, very simple and straight forward in design. The trick was to understand the charging and ignition systems of the ford design of that era. My only headscratching episode came in how to meld the electronic ignition into the system. The charging system was a breeze. ’74 era systems are easy to understand if-you make careful maps of the factory wiring diagrams. The reference section of my local library supplied all that I needed. Hint: take plenty of dimes to make copies of these diagrams and be sure to spend the time reading how they interconnect. The many books you need begin with the ‘Scout” and end with the ‘Chevy’. The Alt. is whats draining your Bat.if the system includes the AMC solid state regulator. Poor grounding and air-cooling insures this weak designs failure. Prestolite products were the worst.
