When you hear this name, the first thing that strike your mind is something related to jewelry. Obviously its name is like that. But there is nothing related to jewelry. Pendent lighting is a form of lamp which is actually suspended from ceiling. These types of lamps are perfect for kitchens islands, desks, breakfast nooks and the like. You can opt for single pendant lighting or two to four in group. These are attached to one another using a rod. It opens up space for new creative designs and ideas.

For better lighting it is recommended that you should mount the pendant lighting fixtures around the height of 24″ to 30″ above floor. If you are using mini pendants, the height should be around 18″ to 24″ above the surface that you want to light up. If you are using a group of pendants, adjustable bars are used to mount it so that you can change the position of lamps to change the light intensity at different places.

There are five different types of pendant available: Inverted, downlights, mini pendants, kitchen and island pendant lighting and pool table and billiard lights. Just have a look at the description.

The face of the inverted pendant fixtures is bent towards the ceiling. This feature protects the surrounding area from direct glare of light. By reducing this glare inverted pendants are used for making a relaxed and soothing environment. But inverted lamps are not suitable if you want to use it for reading or any other task.

Downlight pendants are used in Reading areas, game tables, pool tables, and places where a particular task needs to be illuminated. It is direct light on the task to illuminate it and give a proper and clear view.

Mini pendants are used in small areas. It has a single bulb of 40-60 watts. It can be used as an additional light on a particular task with already illuminating light. You can also use mini pendants to decorate rooms by hanging three to four mini pendants.

Pool table and billiard lights are just like downlight. But there is one difference. Pool table lights and billiard lights give constant illumination. It is available in different type of material like stained wood, brass, wrought iron, smoked glass, and other materials. You can get it anywhere from twenty dollars to hundreds and thousands of dollars depending on the variety of the material.

Pendant lights only are sufficient to prepare a relaxing environment but are not sufficient to illuminate a whole space. To do it you have to make a paring with table lamps, wall sconces and other light sources. This will make your room beautiful and eliminates dark spots. Pendant lighting is useful for all purposes.
