that would be a great idea – LED produces higher lumens at lower wattage than even fluorescent light bulbs. i’ve seen cars start to use LED lights such as the rear lights of the Toyota Altis.

I drawback I can think of would be that LED tends to create a very harsh, piercing light; while most homeowners prefer a soft and warm light to give their space a welcoming feel.

the beam is also very directional, so you would need to disperse it to illuminate a large space.
