12v DC car neon light at home?
Hi all,
I was planning on making my living room look more attractive at parties. I found several neon tube lights at auto zone that run off of the cigarette lighter. i also found a splitter that gives me four cigarette outlets off of one, kinda like ann extension cord for a car. my question is, is there any way i can hook up these lights at home without any formal electrical experience? is there a converter i could use? i also read that i could cut the wire off of a 12v utility (phone, mp3, etc…) charger and connect it to the car charger itself, but this sounds a little too dangerous for me.
the 12v adapter, is it actually one that lets me plug a car plug into a wall socket? that’s what i’m looking for. the reason i wanted the ones at autozone were because they are sound responsive. but if you knew where else i could find ones that were the same but on 120v ac that would be amazing
You can find a 12 volt power supply at any truck stop or at a radio shack that has a built in cigarette lighter type plug. They go for about 30 dollars. You can also search your local hardware stores and wal marts for house version of the same type of lights. They will just plug right in to the wall.
