Light influences the mood in your kitchen in a variety of ways. So the more different functions you want the room to have, the more you’ll want to play with the lighting.

The versatility of a kitchen ought to be matched by a wide range of different light levels appropriate for each activity. For example you might cook, dine, do homework, relax, and party in this one space.

So change the mood of your kitchen with several “layers” of light…

By layers we mean 2 or more different kinds of light fixtures, each on a separate circuit, and controlled independently. The idea is to use a different circuit for each type of lighting: general, task and accent.

Dimmers will give complete control, and will allow for almost infinitely subtle blending. Plus, with dimmers, as the level of light is dialed down, the actual color of the light shifts warmer. So even the colour changes from cooler to warmer as you dial the lights down! Ideal for altering the mood of the room from bright and functional to soft and intimate.

Each light layer can emphasize a particular part of the the room:

- countertops (under-cabinet low voltage halogens)

- inside some glass-front cabinets (shelf lighting)

- overall ambiance of the room (recessed downlights)

- the corners (uplights)

- an island or separate counter top (pendant light)

- a focal point in the center of the ceiling (chandelier)

The obvious benefit of having 3 or 4 different light types in the kitchen is flexibility.

You can brighten or dim the overall light level, or turn on or off lights in different areas. Plus you can blend 3 or 4 individual lamp sets to get a whole range of diverse effects, like colors on an artist’s palette.

A less obvious benefit is energy efficiency. Party time or dinner time lighting need not be as bright, using less power and saving you money. Plus, party guests will love you for it!

Finally, the most profound benefit of all is the ability to change YOUR mood. That’s what quality of life is all about, and that’s what quality lighting can achieve.

That is why pornography, violence, hate, gossip, rumor, slander, and simple time wasting are detrimental to the born again child of God.
Keep your garments clean and white, be in the word constantly, pray continually and the light of the gospel will shine forth from you to brighten the World and to give glory to the living GOD. Praise His Holy name.

Light and darkness are mutually exclusive. Where there is light there can be no darkness. Where there is darkness there is no light. Those in darkness have no light and cannot see or understand the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. That is why we as believers must shine the gospel light in a dark world.
