Can any ceiling fan be installed for outdoor use, such under a patio cover?

Looking to install a ceiling fan under a patio cover in my backyard but wanted to know if ANY ceiling fan will work or must I purchase/use a ceiling fan designated for outdoor use only.

I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan under my patio cover that is rated for outdoor use. The fan blades are made to look like wood, but are a resin material and the housing for the motor is a little different than my indoor fans. I think you would be smart to purchase one that is made to be outdoors because they are designed to handle the weather, condensation, humidity, temperature variations, etc. Mine was only $50 at Home Depot. I got it on clearance at the end of last season and it weathered the rainy season well, didn’t rust and it looks like new.
