The other day I went on a quest…?
to find photography props at an outdoor flea market. I stumbled accross a man in one of the booths with a digital camera, two strobes, a painted background, a laptop computer, and a printer… he was selling 8×10 photos for $10 a piece.
If you asked me, I’d say that this man didn’t have a clue what he was doing… the lighting was bad, the camera angle was bad, he was using a wide angle lens… but regardless, do people actually pay for this?
Each space costs $300 per month, and the flea market is only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In order for him to get his rent back he would need to have 30 customers in the 12 days that he’s working.
What do you think about this?
He will also have ink and paper to buy, so even the $10 is not all profit after he gains 30 customers. I agree that he must make SOME money at it or he would not be there. However, I also think he will never get rich, or I doubt he even makes his living at it. It is probably just some extra income. Personally, I would hate to know I HAD to have 30 customers just to break even. Considering how horrid so many of the photos displayed on this forum are, people are surely getting something much better from him than what most can do themselves.
