I don’t know the specific ‘how-to’ of fixing it, but sometimes it happens because there could be a default in the automatic door lock (security light), the battery on your key fob could be on its way out, etc. Check your users manual (if you don’t have one, you can do a search online; lots of car makes have them for free), to see how to reset the door lock.

And (don’t ask how I know this…….) if you have an automatic, just ‘check’ to see that your car is not in Drive…while you can turn off the car while in gear, you cannot start it for safety reasons……
