What is our love of desk lamps all about? Aren’t they just used for lighting paper on a desk? Definitely not! Desk lamps are versatile lights that have become something to adore for their design as well as their light.

Lighting is now a major part of our lives and lights have come a long way from the days of a simple pendant light. Lights that are cleverly positioned can create stunning mood lighting or highlight a favourite ornament making a proper feature.

Desk lights can be used to create all of the above effects. The modern desk light is normally fairly compact meaning they can be positioned just about anywhere in the home. Desk lamps are also the simplest to install just requiring you to plug them into the nearest electrical socket, and then move them to the desired position that you require the light.

Current styles of lamp have moved on from the old style desk lamps that we can all remember although you can still see that original style in all modern desk lighting. The design of traditional desk lamps meant you could move the head into no end of positions and that has been passed down to the modern day desk lamp.

Gone too is the old toggle switching that came with two choices – on or off. Nowadays, desk lighting can be touch sensitive or sound sensitive. They come with dimmer switches, halogen bulbs, LED lamps, and daylight fluorescent tubes; features that make desk lights incredibly attractive to children and ideal for their rooms.

Children love a good lamp on the desk and are ideal for use in a den or bedside light, the touch sensitive desk lights also make a great party piece to impress their friends. With many vibrant styles and designs available they are spoilt for choice.

For older children who have left homework to the last possible minute, a desk light will provide the means to write up that essay in the wee small hours of the night.

Immensely movable, desk lighting can be moved to wherever their light is needed; they come in portable, pocket sized versions, clamp on versions, luxury versions, and, if you’re in retro mood, the old anglepoise models are still out there too.

I had this dream …?

had this dream where i was on a ….?
great big white boat, like a yacht. I was in some sort of contest and all the girls that were in the room i was in were talking about there talants . I do not remember what mine was, but this pretty girl sitting next to me, her talent was cooking, and another girl across from me hers was acting. So anyway the girl next to me wanted to go explore the ship so we were going up this narrow white spiral staircase, very small, like a service stairwell. and we kept looking in different rooms on the different floors.It was always the same bedroom with the same green bedspread and table w/ this black lamp on the bedside turned on. I remember feeling like it was really hard to keep up with her on the stairs and a couple of times looking behind me an seeing that other girl ( the one who acts) following us and trying to be sneaky about it.
Any ideas what i was subconciously think about?

You find yourself in a situation where you have to compete with other people and are feeling a bit insecure about your capabilities. You keep searching for something in you to best the others but you think you have nothing special to offer (always the same bedroom). You are afraid that you will not have anything to show for yourself especially when others are not playing fair (the sneaky girl). To compete doesn’t necessarily mean a real competition or contest but just proving your worth in a group of people.
