The proposed building will have to be set further back from the road to allow for parking spaces. This means the back of my house and most of my garden would be in shadow, and overlooked, for most of the day. Is there really a right to light and could this stop the planned development?
This is in the UK. Planning regulations might be different in other countries.

I think you can probably put an objection to the local authority. The fact that your privacy will be invaded & the light will be blocked will go a long way to making them alter their plans at least a little.
