I bought a 500a 28′ and 18 1/2″ combo for home defense. I thought it was a good deal since I could use the 28″ for hunting. Guess what I should have bought a 590. The difference is the 590 holds more shells and the magazine tube easily comes off, making spring replacement easier. And the 590 is parkerized, better resistance to rust than the 500a’s bluing. My 500a’s extra 28″ barrel just rusted since I never used it.
