Every building project I undertake begins with pre-planning. That is the time when I consider all the facts about the projects that I know. When I built my fence there was an awful lot I did not know. Truth was, I had never built a fence, so I had some learning to do.

Like I do for most of my projects, I went online to learn about my new project. First of all, I learned that digging the holes were not Step One of my project.

I needed to know if I was required to have a permit to install a fence on my property. Since I belong to a home owner’s association, I needed to get permission from the association, too.

Soon, I was ready to look online for blueprints for building a fence. Over the years I have learned that having good blueprints save me time and money.

My prints package included a list of material I would need, so I was able to compute the quantity of lumber and number of posts my fence would require.

I really appreciate the list of materials that come with the prints because I want to buy materials in proper quantities and not have a bunch of lumber left over.

My online education clued me in to finding out how deep the frost line was at my house. I learned that posts must be set below the level of the frost line so that when the ground freezes, my posts are not pushed out of the ground.

The posts onto which your fence boards will be nailed must be in a perfectly straight line, one after another, and another, all the way around the area you are fencing.

Mark off the area you want fenced, and drive a stake every 6 to 8 feet along the line. Make sure the stakes are perfectly aligned, and the distance between the stakes is equal.

You can be sure your posts will be in a perfectly straight line by stretching a string from corner post to corner post and putting the stakes under the string.

When you are ready to dig the holes for your posts, remember that the hole must go deeper than the frost line. And, each post hole will be big enough for the post and the cement you need to anchor your fence and give it a long life.

Start with the end posts, or corner posts they may be called. As each post hole is dug, make sure the post is perfectly aligned with the last post you placed. These posts should be braced very securely while the cement sets up.

The cement will need a couple of days or more to become firm enough the fencing can be attached. The boards should be attached with screws rather than nails.

The hammering you would do to attach the boards with nails can loosen the post and ruin your fence. Over the years, nails in the board tend to loosen and allow the fence to sag, while screws will hold the board securely.

When your posts are in and the boards are securely attached, you will want to seal and paint the fence. A wooden fence that has been sealed and painted with a good quality paint will last many years.

A nice fence enhances the appearance of your property and keeps your pets safe from vehicular traffic, and away from the neighbors.

Both respondents are rather correct.
As far as solar goes, get one for like an RV, they are weather tested, stable, and work.
Also might wanna look at Marine solar panels, anything marine is gonna cost 75% more.
That is why I did most of my boats with RV stuff.
I do not work for those places, I just googelized them and they look legit.
