I have one and started with using the Berger oils. Then I found some slightly cheaper, Alexandria’s brand. They worked fine. Now I switch back and forth. If you’re trying a different brand you must be very sure that it’s compatible with a catalytic style ceramic burner. If salespeople aren’t sure, check the instructions on the other brand. If they read the same as the Berger instructions, you should be okay. One thing you’re not supposed to do is mix different scents together in the lamp, no matter who made them. I did it and almost clogged up the burner. If that happens, they say to burn neutral Berger scent for a long time to clean the burner. A new burner is $30 here, which isn’t bad considering what the whole lamp can cost. The Berger “oils” are actually mostly isopropyl alcohol, so anything that really is oil is definitely not suitable.
