First off I would assure your mother that YOU would be doing most all of the work and wouldn’t start the job and not finish it. I would also tell her that you want to pick out the colors but you will let her approve of what you’re going to do first and have the final say. So pick out more than just one or two color schemes. Include your mom a little in the decision making and ask her advice about things but not so much that she feels that she will be the one doing most of the work. I have a few furniture ideas. The full size bed shouldn’t be too hard to move if you take off the mattress and box spring. I’m a small female and was smaller in high school and I used to rearrange my room by myself all the time. You’ll be surprised what your capable of moving. Of course you may not be able to lift it but with several tugs and pushes you should eventually be able to slide it to where you want it. Lean the mattresses up against the wall while you move the frame. Try moving it to the corner furthest from the door to your room and up against the wall so it can only be gotten into from one side. Place it kaddy-corner from the door. Place the bed side table right beside the bed with the lamp on it. If your closet is big and tall enough try to put your dresser inside it. You may even be able to put the lamp in the closet too for more light when you’re looking for clothes. Take your full length mirror off of the hinges and hang it on the back of your door if your mom will let you. Hanging lots of big mirrors on the walls of your room will create the illusion of a bigger room as well. As for the colors pink, yellow, and purple, save the darkest color you will use for smaller areas, such as trim. If you use a darker color for the majority of the painting it will make your room look a lot smaller than it already is. Also try to pick cooler pinks and yellows. Try a real light pink or a pink with a blue base to it. Stick to very light or pale yellows. There’s two reasons for this. One. You have two warm colors in your color scheme being pink and yellow and you have one cool toned color being purple. Warm and Cool colors don’t often mix well unless you’re careful and don’t choose bright colors. So why not a pinker purple to fit the warmer color schemes you may ask? Warm colors are better used for bigger areas because they can actually psychologically bring tension to your well being in a tight room. You’ll feel anxiety much more in that room than others in the house and you don’t want that in your bedroom. It’s suppose to be a room of relaxation and oasis. Even alarm clocks with the laser red letters can subconsciously stress you out and even rob you of a good night’s sleep. Cooler lighter colors will bring more depth and relaxation to your bedroom. Think I’m BSing you. There are studies and loads of research on this proving these theories. So let’s recap, stick to the cooler colors and use your darkest color for small areas only. Something to add to furniture is try combining objects of similar size back to back to make it seem as one item if that is possible.
