ELECTRICAL: Is it safe to install one of those things to make a regular lamp a touch lamp?
We installed one from Walmart on a $100 lamp yesterday and that made it a little to tall to put the shade on. So we installed a smaller bulb (60 watt oven light bulb) so the shade would fit back on. The lamp can take up to 100 watts though.
I was initially looking for a tap lamp or a lamp with a chain so it would be easy to turn on and off during the night. This one had neither and I want to make sure it’s okay to convert it. I need an expert opinion because I bought two of these lamps. I would rather take the gadget off than run the risk of ruining the lamp. Thanks
You are OK. Its safe, the only time its unsafe is if you use to large or wattage bulb.You can also use a pull chain adapter as well. It has a socket on one end and a just screws right in to lamp socket.
