Why does my touch-on floor lamp turn on by itself?
I got a very nice new floor lamp from Target which you turn on only by touching it (up to three times for brightness). But, I wake up in the middle off the night, or come home from a day at work, and the light is somehow on, even though I am 100% sure I turned it off! I thought it might be our dog, but last night I blocked him out of my room and the light was still on in the morning. It’s very strange, and for the sake of my electric bill, I was hoping to find out why this happens and what I can do to prevent it…

This sort of effect can be quite tricky to track down. Devices like that can sometimes be susceptible to radio frequency interference from such things as passing taxis, emergency vehicles, CB radios, even mobile phones. Also by surges and spikes in the mains electricity supply. (Nearby appliances such as washing machines and freezers switching on and off)
Unless you can find a cause, it’s difficult to find the fix.
