Why is my fan does not?

Today, my father was not a trick, but the lights were working, so I took the old fan, and I put in my garage that worked perfectly when it is turned off for five months. When I connect cable blue and son BLACK copper wire from the ceiling. I connected the white wire of the fan to the white wire from the ceiling. I left the ground wire just because there was no ground wire from the ceiling. If after carefully assembled and installed, I get a sheet, and fan began to turn. then I put in the rest of the blades and lights, and when I was done. engine cooling fan, but did not spinning. and again the lights worked perfectly.
