How do i wire together this outdoor lamp 400w?

OK so here goes. I have a 400w lamp type, stage I just replacing the bulb in, and now mounted on a light pole in my yard. Im in the operation of the planning of a wire straight down to my breaker box. the cable that runs from the lamp has 3 other cables inside. (When emptied), one black, one white and one green one. The cable going out from the switch box also has three wires inside it. one white, one black and one bare copper ... My question is: how to assemble the 3 sets of cables? My hypothesis is black with black, white to white, green with copper. Am I correct? (I have done a simple electrical work, but never attempted a 3-pin cable above)
