How do I store canna bulbs over the winter?

I live in Southern Ontario & I know that the bulbs should be dug up over the winter. In what manner should I store them in my house?

I dig mine up every year after the first frost. Remove all the dirt and let them sit & dry for a couple of days. I then set them in crumpled newpaper in a basket in the basement over the winter. I have had great results so far.
